About / Just in case you don't know who Obaidah is.

Why 'Obadiah' Records?

To understand who we are and what we do, you need to first meet two men. Both of these men are no longer living today, but what they did during their lifetimes embodies all of what we do here at Obadiah Records.

The first man I would like you to meet is named Obadiah. Obadiah was a prophet. And a prophet is, to put it simply, God's mouthpiece. Whether it is a man or woman, the job of a prophet is to declare to everyone exactly what God reveals to him (or her...God doesn't discriminate based on gender).

Sounds simple, right?
Not so much.

The job of a prophet is tough. Most people don't really want to listen to a prophet because God's message always involves a call to turn from what is wrong and toward what is right. And that usually aggravates most of us. The prophet Obadiah wrote one prophecy that was put into the Bible. It's called 'Obadiah.' The book of Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament, and his message was simple. He preached judgment on those who were evil and protection and salvation for those who belonged to the God of Israel. There are a few lines towards the end of the book that I love:

But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance,
And there shall be holiness;
The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
The house of Jacob shall be a fire
And the house of Joseph a flame,
But the house of Esau shall be stubble.
-Obadiah 17-18

This is not only a promise for the children of Israel; it is also a promise for all those who follow Jesus Christ, God's Son. In Jesus, we find freedom (deliverance) and walk a life set apart for Him (holiness). We are also promised to be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit and have total victory over all the attacks of Satan.

Now that you’ve met Obadiah, I would like to introduce you to another man.

The second man I would like you to meet is-you guessed it-also named Obadiah (no relation to the first one...at least that's what most people think). He is also found in the Bible, but this Obadiah is hidden back in the pages of the book of Kings. He was a high-ranking worker in the king's palace and was in charge of the entire house of King Ahab. Obadiah had a deep respect and love for the God of Israel (who is also the God of Christianity today). In fact, his name means "worshipper of God" in the Hebrew language. King Ahab and his wife Jezebel, however, did not worship the God of Israel at all. Jezebel was so horrible that she called for all of the prophets across Israel to be brutally killed.

It was during that season of Ahab and Jezebel's reign that Obadiah risked his life and his place in the king's palace to hide 100 prophets from Jezebel's wrath. He split them up into two caves and fed them bread and water for weeks on end (the Bible never really tells us how long he kept these prophets alive). The prophets survived Jezebel's wrath, and continued to preach God's word to the people of Israel.

Why does Obadiah Records Exist?

Now that you've met these two men named Obadiah, you'll be able to better understand why Obadiah Records exists. We exist primarily to promote worship in the Church. The name 'Obadiah' means 'worshiper of God' or 'servant of God.' It is through worship that we enjoy an intimate relationship with our Father and Creator. And it is in this intimate relationship that God advances His Kingdom and protects us from the attacks of the enemy.

Let's go back to the two men named Obadiah that you just met.

Just as Obadiah served as a prophet of God, Obadiah Records exists as a prophetic voice in these last days. Every passing day brings us closer to the return of Jesus Christ for His Bride, the Church. For that reason, we must continue to declare the truths of the Gospel to bring in as many people into the family of God before the Tribulation comes. We at Obadiah Records specifically have a musical bent on our prophetic call; it is through music that we will both empower the Church to worship and invite the world to receive the prophetic word that God has for this generation.

And just as our second Obadiah (from Kings) hid the prophets from the wrath of Jezebel, the music that we produce will serve as a refuge from the storms of this life (brought on by the devil). It is in intimacy with the Father through worship that we find refuge and protection. Psalm 91 declares this:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty
I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.'
-Psalm 91:1-2

The rest of the psalm goes on to declare that He will deliver and protect us from the attacks of our enemies. Nothing will harm us! This protection is rooted in our choice to worship Him (dwelling in the secret place), and Obadiah Records seeks to help the Church rest under the shadow of God's wings through worship.

JesusWho Is Jesus?

This is by far the most important part of this entire website. Jesus is God's only Son. He was with the Father at the very beginning when everything was created. He was there when I was created, and He was there when you were created.  He came to this earth as one of us-a human born of a virgin-to declare the best news any of us would ever hear.

He came to set us free.
He came to heal our bodies.
He came to put our broken hearts back together.
And He came to forgive us.

But when He came to this earth almost 2,000 years ago, no one wanted anything to do with Him. He was despised. He was rejected. And He was put to death on a cross, the most gruesome form of death ever imagined in the history of humanity.But He didn't just die. He rose again three days later, defeating death and the grave!

The most incredible thing about the death of Jesus, the Messiah, was that it was through His death that He gave us everything that He promised us: freedom, healing, restoration, peace, and forgiveness. Isaiah, a prophet from the Old Testament, talked about Jesus hundreds of years before He ever came to this earth. This is what he said about Jesus:

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions;
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
-Isaiah 53:4-7

This is the Good News that I share with you today. It's Jesus. He took your sin, your chains, your hurts, and your sicknesses on Himself. It was on the cross that Jesus took all of those things. He only asks of you one thing: that you give your life to Him. Receive His forgiveness in your life today, and He will give you life in Heaven with Him for the rest of eternity.
